From apartment Carrión you can visit the most popular museums of the city on foot, such as Picasso’s Bithplace Museum, which is 700 metres away and is a nineteenth-century building where the artist was born and spent the first years of his life. This museum houses original works of Pablo Ruiz Picasso, from his permanent collection and from temporary cessions, pottery, engravings, illustrated books and personal objects belonging to the artist and his family. Or the Thyssen Museum of Málaga, which was inaugurated in March 2011 and exhibits a permanent collection comprising of more than 200 works of Spanish nineteenth-century artists, which mainly focuses on Andalusian painting and which constitutes the most complete exhibition in Spain. Here you will find works from famous Spanish artists such as Valeriano Domínguez Becquer, Eugenio Lucas Velázquez, Julio Romero de Torres and Joaquín Sorolla, amongst others. Additionally, the museum has a program of temporary exhibitions of unquestionable artistic interest, a must-visit.
The Cervantes Theatre is very close by, 650 metres away, and it is one of the most ancient stages in the capital of the Costa del Sol. It dates back to 1870 and it has more than 1,200 seats. It is the main site where the Festival of Málaga takes place. You must not leave Málaga without visiting the Alcazaba (1.1 kilometres away), which, along with the Gibralfaro Castle and the Roman Theatre, constitutes the most important archaeological site of the city.
