La Carihuela, located in the eastern side of the town, was in the past a traditional fishing town inhabited by people who earned a living from the sea. Nowadays just a few picturesque corners and remains have survived from the old town as a reminder of the past life of the area.
For years La Carihuela has been a cosmopolitan area where many hotels, shops, bars and restaurants abound. Namely the gastronomy of the town has become renowned along the coastline of Torremolinos and it has crossed borders, all due to the popular fried fish served in restaurants in the area. La Carihuela Beach (50 meters from the apartment) is 2.1 kilometres long and offers all types of services. It reaches to the Marina of Benalmádena. The whole length of it is accessible thanks to its attractive and buoyant promenade flanked by popular restaurants and beach bars.
La Carihuela is in Torremolinos, a town located within the province of Málaga, along the Mediterranean Coast of Andalucía, and within the region of the western part of Costa del Sol. FEATURES OF THE APARTMENT
Our holiday apartment La Carihuela is full of character and charm. It has a maximum capacity for 4 people and it is a duplex apartment. It comprises of 2 bedrooms, one with 2 single beds on the bottom floor and the other with double bed on the top floor. This provides you with privacy if you are traveling with another couple, although it is also ideal for a family. The bottom floor also has a bathroom with shower and shower screen, and top-loading washing machine and tumble dryer. The lounge/diner is open plan with the kitchen. The kitchen is totally equipped with kitchenware and appliances: fridge/freezer, microwave/grill, dishwasher, electric hob, toaster, coffee machine, etc. It is fabulous for both short and long stays as you will feel at home and have everything available. The lounge looks out onto the street.
On the top floor, in addition to the bedroom with vaulted ceiling and skylight, there is a lot of storage space, a sitting area and a bathroom with Jacuzzi bath.
The apartment is bright, practical, tranquil, 50 meters from the beach and surrounded by bars and shops.
The Wi-Fi and air-conditioning are free.
FEATURES OF THE AREA
La Carihuela Beach is an urban beach accessible from the promenade. It has dark sand and moderate waves. It is 2 kilometres long and it is located in the old fishing town with which it shares its name, where restaurants and charming shops abound.
Fried fish is the local dish par excellence, you cannot leave without trying some. It is a culinary specialty which is renowned for the way it is fried. It has crossed borders and it has become the most renowned and valued dish of Torremolinos.
Torremolinos has more than 250 restaurants, to suit all tastes and budgets.
La Feria del Carmen, celebrated in the middle of July, takes thousands of people to La Carihuela, especially on the day when the image of the Virgin Mary is placed on a boat and taken for a ride around the waters. At the end of September, Torremolinos celebrates the Romería of San Miguel at the nearby pine forest of Los Manantiales.
A few days after this the Feria of San Miguel commences, the Patron Saint of Torremolinos, which is celebrated, like in many other towns in Málaga, during the day in the city centre and at night at the feria ground. At the feria ground many unions and private groups of people will put up a stand. Despite the thousands of tourists that this celebration attracts, it still preserves an unambiguous Andalusian character.
During the month of August, the traditional Flamenco Festival of Torremolinos takes place. It is one of the most ancient festivals within the province of Málaga and each year it brings some famous names to the town.
July is the month of the EUROAL, the Feria of Tourism, Art and Culture of Latin America and Europe, which has been celebrated since 2006 and which takes place at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos, where the highest exponents in national and international tourism gather together.
