Aparment for rent Victoria 32 (Malaga)

This tranquil and spacious apartment is located in one of the most symbolic streets of the city: Calle Victoria, next to Plaza de la Merced, where Picasso’s Birthplace Museum is located. From the entrance to Picasso’s Bithplace, along Calle Gómez Pallete, you can get to local market Mercado de la Merced. This is the new local meeting point which has become a modern market that retains the traditional street stalls, whilst offering a new concept of market with stalls to have some tapas.

Five minutes from the apartment you will find the Roman Theatre, which was built during the reign of Emperor Augustus and used up until the third century. It is located at the foothills of the fortress of La Alcazaba. We recommend going up in the lift of the Alcazaba which you can find via an access along Calle Guillén Sotelo, opposite the Town Hall.

Opposite the Roman Theatre you will find the most famous tavern in Málaga: El Pimpi, where you can try local wines and traditional Andalusian tapas.

500 metres away you will find the Cathedral of Málaga. Although the works of the Cathedral commenced during the Gothic period (sixteenth century) upon an ancient mosque of the Arabic city, the current building is of Renaissance style and is unfinished.

The budget run out in 1782 and the works came to a halt, meaning that the southern tower, amongst other elements, remains unfinished. This fact has given the site its nickname “La Manquita” (one-armed). Opposite the Cathedral, Plaza del Obispo and the Episcopal Palace (1762) are located. This palace is, in fact, a group of attached buildings whose main façade constituted a stunning example of the Baroque architecture of Málaga.

Border the Cathedral via the last stretch of Calle Santa María, where you can contemplate the majestic Isabelline façade of El Sagrario, and then carry on down Calle Císter until you reach Customs Palace (Palacio de la Aduana), headquarters of the Museum of Málaga, which exhibits collections of the Provincial Arts Museum and Provincial Archaeological Museum of Málaga.

Just 1 kilometre away from the apartment, by crossing the tunnel that connects Plaza de la Merced with fountain Fuente de las 3 Gracias, just under the Alcazaba, you will reach La Malagueta Beach, where not only can you enjoy the sun and beach, but you can also enjoy some famous skewered sardines and a “tinto de verano” at any of the beach bars there.

The distance to the airport is 12 kilometres, a 20 minute drive. In Plaza de la Merced you will find a taxi rank and all the way along Calle Victoria there are city bus stops.
