Apartment Pasillo del Matadero (Málaga)

This 3 bedroom apartment Guadalmedina 3 Bedrooms is located in the western part of the city centre. From the apartment you can see River Guadalmedina, the Port of Málaga, the Park of Málaga and the Alcazaba. Train station María Zambrano is located 1.2 kilometres away from the apartment and the airport is 10 kilometres away, about a 10 minute drive.

Plaza de la Marina is 850 metres away. From this plaza you can head towards the Port, towards the Alameda Principal (Main Boulevard), or walk up Calle Larios, which is the most renowned commercial street of Málaga. It is full of designer shops and interesting businesses, and it is home to ice-cream parlour Casa Mira, the most ancient in Málaga and where you must not forget to try one of their home-made ice creams. The most popular is the turron flavour.

At the end of Calle Larios you will find Plaza de la Constitución. From here you can get to the Cathedral, which is 1.1 kilometres away from apartment Guadalmedina 3 Bedrooms. It seems like all the streets lead to that imposing façade which has a unique feature. The Cathedral of Málaga is unfinished, hence the locals call it La Manquita (one-armed), as one steeple is unfinished. From the plaza you can also get to the Thyssen Museum of Málaga, located in the Palace of Villalón, right in the historical centre, just a few steps away from the Cathedral. It is renowned for its wonderful permanent collection made up by more than 200 works, the majority of which were acquired by Baroness Thyssen after the sale of her main collection to the state.

There are many museums to choose from: the Russian Museum, the Automobile Museum and, one of my personal favourites, the Museum of Málaga. The latter is located in the old Customs Headquarters, an eighteenth-century palatial building housing the Arts and Archaeological collection of the city. This museum exhibits the highest number of works in Spain after the Prado Museum.

These cultural sites and museums are just pieces to add to the new image of Málaga, a modernisation project of many facets and amongst which we should highlight another important change: the new promenade. Thanks to its refurbishment, more prominence was given to the sea. You must not miss out on a walk along the Mediterranean seashore, flanked by joggers, skaters, families with children, craft and food stalls…And if you would like to contemplate one of the best panoramic views of the city, you must not forget to take a ride on the Málaga Eye, located at the beginning of the Port and whose round silhouette you can see from any point in the city.

It comprises of 3 bedrooms, one with double bed and ample storage space, the second with 2 single beds and the third with a single bed. The apartment has a bathroom with large hydro-massage shower with glass screen.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA

If you like good food and markets with good smells, colours and life, we advise you to pay a visit to local market Mercado de Atarazanas, which is a true spectacle of colours, smells and Andalusian character. It is interesting to hear the chant of fishermen announcing their fresh produce, or having a bite here and there trying a variety of specialties, such as the heart of Málaga (a fig with dried almond on top).

There are more delicious things to eat, especially in summer. You must not forget to try some skewered sardines, which are sardines skewered on a wooden cane and cooked on embers in the sand.

To end, we would like to make a recommendation which is a local tradition. You cannot leave Málaga without having lunch or dinner at what is possibly the city’s most popular restaurant: El Pimpi, opposite the Roman Theatre and located in an ancient eighteenth-century house which has been completely restored.
