The coastal region of the province of Málaga and the most eastern part of Campo de Gibraltar (Cádiz) is known as the Costa del Sol. It is one of the most important tourist regions in Spain which concentrates around 35% of the tourism in Andalucia.
Costa del Sol boasts a pleasant climate, with an average yearly temperature of 19 ºC and enjoying over 300 days of sun per year. Traditionally it is divided into two areas: Eastern Costa del Sol and Western Costa del Sol, the capital and centre of both being the city of Málaga.
Although the name of Costa del Sol invites us to grab a towel and spend hours on end sunbathing, the truth is that the region has a lot more to offer than just sea and sand (even though nobody can doubt that this is a perfect reason to pay it a visit). Costa del Sol is full of impressive places to visit as well as activities to keep yourself busy. From postcard villages like Casares to others which are more hidden and astonishing such as the Nerja Caves, the Costa del Sol is, without a doubt, much more than the good weather that is boasts. It is also gastronomy, culture, sports…A long list that will make you fall in love with the place and with the people.
