Holiday rentals Apartment Victoria Duplex (Málaga)

Our holiday apartment Duplex Victoria is situated in one of the best locations in the city centre of Malaga, Calle La Victoria. This street reaches from Plaza de la Merced, where Picasso’s Birthplace Museum is located, to Plaza de la Victoria, heading in the southeast – northeast direction for 650 metres. In the same direction, 1.9 kilometres from the apartment, you can visit the Castle of Gilbralfaro, from where you can contemplate the bay of the city. Here the Zegris remained for three long months during the siege of the Catholic Monarchs. You can reach it by taking a 25 minute hike uphill past the Coracha of the Alcazaba.

From the apartment you can do sightseeing on foot around the whole historical centre of Malaga, without the need of a car.

The fortress of the Alcazaba – remains of the Roman era of a prosperous Andalusian Medina – is located 400 metres away, and the Roman Theatre is located at its foothills. This theatre, which was used as such until the third century and then was used as a quarry by the Moors, remained buried until 1951, when it was discovered whilst some works were being carried out.

The Cathedral, just 750 metres away, is locally known as La Manquita (one-armed) because, despite being under construction for 254 years, it still has an unfinished tower. The plan is of Gothic styling, the apse is of Renaissance styling and it has Barroc finishings. It is the greatest architectural jewel of the city and it is located within the boundaries of what was an Arabic rampart. 150 metres away from the Cathedral is El Chinitas. The name of this restaurant was given in homage to a small theatre or cáfe that existed until 1937 and was two streets up, famous for its flamenco shows, the scandal it created and verses of poet Federico García Lorca.

The Carmen Thyssen Museum, 900 metres away, is one of the favourite amongst visitors because on the paintings you can see the Andalucía of the nineteenth century, the most traditional era full of bandoleros, inns and wild beaches.

You cannot come to Malaga and not try some fried fish and skewered sardines at the beach bars in the fishing town of Pedregalejo, amongst which you will find El Lirio, El Morata and El Cabra. Additionally, weather permitting and the weather tends to be good, you can have a swim in the sea. At another traditional fishing town, El Palo, you will find El Tintero, where the waiters walk around the tables offering freshly cooked fishes and the fastest gets the dish.

Less than 200 metres from holiday apartment Duplex Victoria you will find a taxi rank, along Plaza de la Merced. Train station Maria Zambrano is 2.3 kilometres away and the airport is 12.8 kilometres away, about a 20 minute drive.

FEATURES OF THE HOLIDAYS RENTAL APARTMENT IN THE COSTA DEL SOL

This wonderful unique apartment has a maximum capacity for 7 people. It is a duplex industrial style apartment which has been decorated in a fresh and modern style. On the lower floor there is a bedroom with double bed and bathroom, an en suite bedroom with large shower and shower screen. Additionally there is a living/dining room with double sofa bed and open plan kitchen. The kitchen is fabulous and is fully equipped with kitchenware and appliances: fridge/freezer, washing machine, oven, induction hob, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and Italian coffee machine, etc. From the living room access is gained to the terrace, which faces towards the interior of the block where the apartment is located, making it a peaceful place far from the hustle and bustle of the neighbouring central streets.

The apartment has an iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Free wifi and air conditioning.

FEATURES OF THE AREA

Malaga is renowned for the sun, the beaches and for being Pablo Picasso’s hometown. However not everybody knows that in Malaga there is a museum for each day of the month (thereabout), ten ways of ordering a coffee and one hundred different species of palm tree. Additionally there is a fabulous port, restored to receive passengers from the many cruise ships that dock here, plus a luxurious pedestrianised street paved with marble. For eating you have the choice of fried fish in a fishing town or contemporary tapas in the city centre. For relaxing you have mojitos on a roof terrace of a hotel or sunbathing on the beach, which is free.

If you are a meat lover, there is La Reserva 12. If you are a fish lover, there is Los Mellizos – we recommend the delicious seafood paella. If you fancy something very traditional, try some grilled langoustines whilst listening to coplas at El Pimpi Florida, a friendly flamenco tavern at El Palo which is generally bursting at the seams.

A very nice local custom is to have a mojito on the roof terrace of a hotel. The most central and popular terraces are those of Room Mate Larios, AC Malaga Palacio and El Molina. For a drink on the ground we recommend exploring Plaza Mitjana. For a cultural soiree we recommend checking out the billboards of Cinema Albeniz and the Cervantes Theatre. Both open their doors to the Spanish Cinema Festival of Malaga, which takes place in April, and to the International Jazz Festival, in November.

As there is nothing better than variety, one of the best choices is going from La Antigua Casa del Guardia to restaurant José Carlos Garcia, which is one of the most popular, creative and exclusive places. It has 6 tables right in the centre of the spectacular Muelle Uno, amongst yachts, shops and terraces, where after you can have an enjoyable drink. The perfect evening ends with a stroll to La Malagueta Beach or in the opposite direction towards El Palmeral de las Sorpresas, the promenade which flanks the port covered by a beautiful pergola, resembling the skeleton of a large water snake.
